Delta Sleep Mattress Review (2022 Update)
- By: James Lee (Certified Sleep Coach)
- / Updated On March 15, 2022
Looking for a new mattress? You may have come across the Delta Sleep Mattress.
Calming Blankets is already well known for its weighted blankets, and their Delta Sleep Mattress is a newcomer to the mattress game.
The question is, does it stack up? In this review, we will take an in-depth look at the pros and cons of the Delta Sleep Mattress, as well as give you our verdict on whether or not it’s worth buying.
Our Methodology
Mattresses are a matter of personal preference, what may be comfortable for one person might feel uncomfortable for another. So our review is a sum of our technical testing, expert analysis, and the experiences of people who have tried out the mattress. We feel this is a more well-rounded way to assess a mattress, as opposed to just relying on one person’s opinion.
Review Breakdown:
The Delta sleep mattress is the new entrant in the Australian bed-in-a-box market. The all-foam mattress is available in one firmness, which is medium (6/10). This medium firmness strikes a good balance between support and a soft cushiony feel, suitable for most average sized people.
This model has a simple two-layer construction. The top comfort layer and the main USP of the mattress is the 7cm thick memory foam, which the brand refers to as “Adaptive Comfort Technology”. The top layer has a neutral memory foam feel, and is designed to provide both cradling comfort and support. Unlike classic memory foam, which can often feel too hot or give a ‘sinking in’ feeling, the Delta Sleep uses porous memory foam which is quite effective in dissipating heat build-up, and providing a more balanced level of comfort.
Underneath the memory foam layer is an 8″ thick transitional high-density polyfoam that provides extra support and stability to the mattress.
In total, the mattress measures 10 inches thick, making it an average profile mattress that should fit most sheet sets. The mattress is encased in a removable Tencel fabric which is soft, natural and eco-friendly. It is also breathable and moisture-wicking which helps to absorb sweat and promote airflow.
All the foam used in the mattress and the outer cover are 100% recyclable and GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) certified. The mattress is manufactured in Victoria (Australia), unlike brands like Ecosa or Koala which are manufactured in China.
Who may like the mattress?
- Hot sleepers looking for a breathable mattress
- Light to average sized side, stomach and back sleepers
- Those who prefer a balanced foam feel and don’t like feeling stuck
- Couples looking for a mattress with little to no motion transfer
- Those looking for an Australian made mattress
Who may not like the mattress?
- Heavier individuals, or those seeking a firmer mattress
- People who enjoy the cradle feeling of memory foam
- Those who prefer a mattress with a bouncier feel
- People looking for a mattress to use with an adjustable bed
Tl;dr: If you are looking for a quality mattress that is made in Australia, then the Delta Sleep Mattress is an excellent option to consider.
Light to average sized sleepers, be it side, stomach or back, should find the mattress quite comfortable. Hot sleepers will also find the mattress ideal, and should not experience any significant heat retention. Heavier individuals may find the mattress a bit too soft, especially those who sleep on their side.

Mattress Performance
Sleep temperature
The Delta Sleep Mattress does a good job of regulating temperature. The moisture-wicking Tencel fabric coupled with a porous top foam layer helps to dissipate heat, helping to prevent you overheating during the night. The mattress doesn’t actively cool down the sleeper, but it doesn’t trap heat as some memory foam mattresses do. The result is a cool, comfortable sleep environment.
Motion isolation for couples
The Delta Sleep Mattress performs well in terms of motion transfer, meaning that there is very little movement felt when someone gets in or out of bed. This is excellent for couples, as it means you won’t be easily disturbed by your partner’s movements at night.
Edge Support
Being a foam mattress, the Delta Sleep Mattress doesn’t offer the best edge support. However, we didn’t find this an issue when sleeping on the mattress, as the foam is dense and supportive.
We did notice some sinkage when sitting on the edge, but you don’t feel as if you’re going to fall off while sleeping.
Sex Comfort
The best mattress for sex is generally responsive and bouncy, allowing easy switching of positions, but every couple has different preferences. The Delta Sleep Mattress is cushioning with a slight sink to it allowing for more traction. Couples who don’t change positions often would find the mattress more comfortable. This is generally applicable for all types of foam mattresses. However, couples seeking a responsive and springier mattress might want to look at hybrid mattresses.
Overall, the Delta Sleep Mattress scores above average in sex comfort like most foam mattresses.
Off-Gassing
There was some off-gassing when we first unboxed the Delta Sleep Mattress, but this is to be expected with any foam mattress. The smell quickly dissipated and was unnoticeable within a few hours. It’s a good idea to leave your windows open for better ventilation to air out the new mattress smell.
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers:
The all-foam design and medium-firm feel of the Delta Sleep Mattress make it a great pick for side sleepers weighing under 105 Kg.
The 7 cm thick comfort layer offers an exceptional balance of pressure relief and contouring, ensuring that your hips, shoulders and spine are evenly aligned. Our testing found that side sleepers weighing below 105 Kg would be most comfortable as they sank just enough in the mattress to relieve pressure build-up across the body.
Side sleepers over the 105 kg weight limit would mostly find the mattress too soft. Heavier side sleepers compress the comfort layer too much around the shoulder and hip region, which could cause discomfort and body misalignment.
Back Sleepers:
Back sleepers prefer medium to medium-firm mattresses. With a medium firmness, the Delta Sleep Mattress is also a suitable option for back sleepers, except for those who weigh over 105 kg. The mattress offers an even stable surface to keep the spine aligned while still offering decent cushioning.
Back sleepers weighing over 105 kg may find that the mattress is too soft, causing them to sink in too deeply and not provide enough support for the spine. Heavier individuals are better supported on firmer hybrid or innerspring mattresses.
Stomach Sleepers:
Stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress to keep their hips from sinking in too deeply, causing spinal misalignment and preventing pressure point formation. Light to medium weight stomach sleepers (less than 75kgs) are most likely to find the Delta Sleep Mattress comfortable. However, stomach sleepers weighing over 75 kgs might not experience adequate support on the mattress and feel more supported on a firmer mattress.
Under 60 Kg | 60 to 105 Kg | Above 105 Kg | |
Side Sleepers | Good | Excellent | Poor |
Back Sleepers | Good | Excellent | Fair |
Stomach Sleepers | Excellent | Good | Fair |
