Brands and their Value
In 2017, Eva was founded in Australia to bring simplicity to the market for mattress-in-a-box. The Eva team in Melbourne wanted to offer customers a restful, yet simple night’s sleep, as a way to escape the complexities of everyday life.
The team wanted to avoid transferring the work to an unknown Chinese factory (like many other mattress companies) because it was not economically feasible to manufacture in Australia. The team visited China to inspect the conditions in the factory. The team made sure that the factory’s working conditions were ethical, safe and conducive to creating a quality product. The factory, run by the Chen Family, met all their requirements. Their relationship with them is still strong today.
The company also maintains strong links with several Australian charities. It donates 1% of its mattress sales to the Smith Family a charity that helps disadvantaged Australian youths achieve success in school. You can shop with confidence at Eva!
Construction
You know about the company but how do you feel about the product itself? The Eva Mattress has 5 layers (or 4, depending on how you look at it) of different materials. This is a hybrid bed. Prepare yourself!
Memory Foam with Gel –The top layer of this mattress has a memory foam with gel infusion to relieve pressure and keep you cool at night. This is achieved by the gel-infused memory foam contouring to the body. It keeps your hips and spine aligned, while the millions and millions of beads in the gel absorb and distribute your body heat throughout the mattress.
Premium latex foam –Next comes a layer that counteracts the lack of reactivity of the previous layer. This helps to avoid the sinking feeling many people find uncomfortable. Its open-cell nature makes it highly breathable and perfect for hot Australian summers. It is also hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites. It’s not bad for one layer and there will be more!
High-Density Support Foam –This third layer of high-density foam provides a great deal of firmness to the mattress. It also serves as the base for the two other layers before the final double-whammy.
Five-Zone Pocket Springs –At the base, you will find a layer of five-zone pocket springs. They serve a variety of functions. They serve many purposes. ).
The pocket springs have been heat-tempered three times in the production process to protect them against wear and tear over time.
Edge support – All around the Eva Mattress perimeter (which is the reason we hesitated to call this a five-layer) there are robust springs. This ensures outstanding edge support and lets sleepers engage the entire mattress with no worries about falling off (we’ve been there).
All Eva Mattress foams and latex are certified by CertiPUR US, while the Class 1 OEKOTEX Standard 100 is the certification for the latex. This means that the mattresses will be free of harmful substances or chemicals.

Comfort, Firmness and Feel
The Eva Mattress is a firmer mattress than most, despite its latex layer that bounces and its reactive pocket springs. It scores 7-8 on the scale of mattress firmness. This is due to the top memory foam layer as well as the high-density support foam. Eva says that they have found, through their research, that the majority of people prefer a firmer bed. This mattress is suitable for any sleeper, whether you sleep on your back, front or side.
We agree with you in the majority, but we also believe that some light sleepers might find the Eva Mattress a bit too firm. Most customers will enjoy the Eva Mattress in its entirety. The combination of the responsive pocket springs, the contouring memory foam or the dense support layer will transform the sleep experience for most people.
It’s important to note that the firmness rating (in this case, 7-8 out of 10) is only a subjective indicator of how a mattress feels. Eva offers a 120-night risk-free trial in Australia so you can test out any mattress. Do you want to try it? You can try it out! There’s nothing to lose.
Sleep Position Ratings
The sleeping position you choose will determine which mattress is best for you. Do you prefer to sleep on your back? Side sleeper? Maybe you drift off lying on your back. You could be a combination. These people exist. Whatever you are, the Eva Mattress will suit your needs perfectly…take note of the word “should”.
The Eva Mattress can be too firm for some people, especially those who are light sleepers. This is doubly true if the light sleepers prefer to sleep on their stomachs. They will struggle to interact with the bouncier layers of the mattress due to their lack of weight, which makes this moderately firm mattress only slightly softer than concrete. Light sleepers may feel their stomachs and internal organs pressing up against the mattress’ hard surface when lying on their back. This is not comfortable.
The layers will provide a “cloud-like comfort” for side and back sleepers. The contouring, support and bounce will help them to feel comfortable. They can also regulate their body temperature. What about those poor people who have joint or back pain? The mattress is moderately firm, with memory foam that contours instantly and dense support foam to relieve pain and pressure.
Temperature Neutrality
The humble mattress can be a valuable tool in the fight against the heat in Australia’s summers. How does the Eva Mattress fare in terms of heat regulation? We’re happy to say that the Eva Mattress performs remarkably well! The gel-infused layer of memory foam absorbs body heat and then expels it from the mattress. This counteracts the heat-retaining properties of most memory foam. The open-cell nature of the latex and the space between the springs also help to breathe the mattress and promote airflow.
What does it mean in practice? This means you and your partner can stay cool, crisp and free of sweat all night, regardless of how humid or hot the weather is.
Edge Support
The Eva Mattress hybrid design is characterized by its excellent edge support. The combination of high-density foam support, perimeter springs, and firm memory foam provides a stable and supportive feel, whether you are in the middle or on the edge. No more sagging, no more falling out of bed in the middle of the night. Even people who have difficulty getting out of bed can do so with ease.
Motion Isolation
Nothing is worse than having to stay awake all night as your partner turns, fidgets and tosses in their deep sleep. It’s even worse for your partner if you are the one who is tossing and revolving, keeping them awake. Motion isolation can help you create a peaceful sleeping environment by preventing movement on the mattress.
Eva Mattresses’ individually pocketed coils work in conjunction with its high-density foam and gel memory foam to isolate movement wherever and whenever it occurs. It’s easy to be confused about how springs isolate motion. Traditionally, spring-based mattresses have not been known to be good at isolating motion. The thing is, traditional spring-based mattress don’t have their own pockets. The pockets allow the mattress to retain its positive qualities (bouncing and responsiveness) while preventing the springs from interacting with each other. What is the end result? The bounce, the comfort, the reactivity and the bouncy feel are all there, but the motion transfer is not (or very little).
Conclusion
What do you think? What do you think? We’re confident enough to agree with Eva that the Eva Mattress is indeed of supreme quality. It offers a wonderful marriage of support and bounce, with its many layers and hybrid design.
We’re not sure if it performs better than other hybrid mattresses in a box, such as the sleeping duck mattress. The Eva Mattress is affordable, with prices starting at $600. We wouldn’t discourage anyone from purchasing it unless they are a lightweight sleeper. The Eva Mattress is a very good mattress, but it doesn’t stand out as the “best”.
